I’m not sure how true it is that in most cases “appearances are deceiving”, but this was certainly my first thought when I had the pleasure of “knowing” Chalet Saxifraga. I am at Suvretta, among the elegant Engadine residences of the international jet set: here Saxifraga welcomes me presenting itself as an imposing mountain chalet with simple, almost rustic architectural lines. This at least is what I think admiring it from the outside … Everything suddenly changes once you have crossed the threshold of the villa; so much so that it is natural to ask myself if by chance I haven’t been mistakenly introduced to a luxurious hunting lodge in Victorian England. Furnishings and accessories from ancient mansions, precious carpets, hunting trophies, wallpapers with floral motifs, Delft majolica: a complex and varied universe that the skillful interior design from the Peregalli studio in Milan has “orchestrated” in a single and enchanting “symphony” of styles, colours and materials. Living an experience in Saxifraga means appreciating every detail without rushing to understand everything about “her” at first glance. You could start from the living room: sit on the soft velvet sofa and, sipping a tea served in precious Dutch china get lost in the flames of the majestic fireplace from a distant castle in Provence …
