When someone ask me about the Kulm Hotel, I always like to remember this beautiful story that began in 1864 with an extravagant bet.
Johannes Badrutt, the owner of the new Kulm Hotel in St.Moritz, promised his English guests – who were spending their summer holidays there – that they would be able to enjoy its sunny terrace even in winter. If they returned at that time and found he was wrong, he would not charge them for their stay. The English accepted the bet, stayed until spring and returned to England very tanned.
From that moment on, the British became the first winter tourists in the Alps and turned St. Moritz into the world’s first winter sports and holiday resort.
Today, the Kulm Hotel is a place that I recommend to guests who want to immerse themselves in an atmosphere of warmth and tranquillity.
Without a doubt, you should definitely try a stay at the Kulm Hotel, because of its privileged location with a thousand views over Lake St. Moritz, its refined atmosphere and its 5-star superior comfort. But I would also highly recommend it for your wedding reception or any other celebration that is close to your heart.
