Villa Luce has the freshness and brightness of a watercolour depicting a house from the mid-1800s with its charming garden giving onto the waters of Lake Como.

As soon as I enter Villa Luce I have the feeling of being welcomed and taken by the hand through large and bright spaces: the entrance, a corridor opening onto the lake leads to the garden; the living room, with its ancient fireplace; the kitchen made incredibly luminous by the beautiful liberty glass window.

Every corner and object of the villa – the family photographs, the light switch, the hand-painted wallpaper –mirrors the female signature of the owner who, harmoniously mixing retro details with modern accessories, conveys all her passion for this place.
The same graceful “dialogue” between contemporary style and elegant references to the past continues in the adjacent adjoining building: an ancient 18th century fisherman’s house, skilfully restored and equipped with every comfort.

I love Villa Luce – and inevitably you will too – because it knows how to welcome me, whispering into my ear of a cherished past, but it invites me to experience a welcoming present, still to be savoured and full of ideas which make me fly over the waters of the lake, beyond the mountains …

The main building, Villa Luce, was built in 1848 as the private residence of a Lombard family.

Instead Villa Bianca is a fisherman’s house dating back to the17th century; it is adjacent and can be communicating yet at the same time independent from the main villa.

In 2005 both houses were purchased by the Moltrasio family, the textile entrepreneurs from Como founders of the Gabel company, one of the best made in Italy firms.

The villa has undergone a very careful three-year restoration which has saved it from oblivion and preserved its historical value and richness of detail thanks to the involvement of skilled local artisans.
